Tuesday Tidbits (No. 50)

Happy Tidbit Day, everyone!  This week we have two special occasions.  We’re celebrating Cinco de Mayo on Thursday and Mother’s Day on the weekend.  Don’t worry – I’ve got you covered for both food and presents today so grab a snack, a favorite beverage and settle in for some fun.

Are you scratching you head because your mom has everything she needs? I’ve put together some links to help you with that.   Check out these creative ideas.  If your mom is a:

I  have a wonderful Pinterest board full of beautiful recipes for Cinco de Mayo that you’ll want to visit.  Mexican food is the best!

I am so excited about this post from Delicious Food!  They’ve given us 27 Diagrams That Make Cooking So Much Easier.  They have a handy PDF file that you can download and I’m going to wallpaper my kitchen with these!  (Just kidding – but some of them are going up on my fridge)

My friend, Blair, over at The Seasoned Mom has put together a fabulous Clean Kids Meal Plan that you’re going to want to check out.  I’m so happy that the tide is finally turning to the healthy side of eating in North America.   Our kids don’t have a chance with good health if we’re not providing the proper nutrition.  Equally important is teaching them the tools they need to make the right choices about whole foods.

Maple-Almond-Crunch-Granola-6

Blair’s site is full of healthy, easy, family-friendly restaurants so you’ll want to plan some time for fun browsing!

Here’s a video that will make you cry happy tears.  This young boy, who has autism, and his dad went to a Coldplay concert.  Look what happens!

Summer is coming (it has to, right? I know it’s going to get here eventually even though it’s May 2 and 38F at the moment!).  Well, when it does finally get here, I’ve got a site for you to visit for fun water activities in the backyard!  Check out Happy Holligans – isn’t that the best name ever?

And while you’re encouraging kids to play in the backyard, you’ll want to get busy and build them this cool playhouse.  I just love this!  Think of the fun kids could have letting their imaginations soar in this nature friendly environment.  I would imagine I’m Tarzan in the jungle – yeah!

If you love the outdoors then let me ask you if you’ve ever considered living on a houseboat?  It seems that people are going in this direction because the price of land is so high and people like the feel of being outdoors.  Check out these beautiful options here.

Don’t you think this is fabulously romantic?!

Now here’s a man who truly loves nature and he shares his passion with the world by hiking up the Transylvanian mountains every morning to take pictures of the sunrise on his village.  Pop over to Distractify to see his stunning photos!

This short 2 minute video is a reminder that we can all make a tremendous difference in others’ lives by putting ourselves out there.  The rewards are so great!

According to this site, most designers will tell you that the right flooring can either make or break a room.  I tend to agree – how about you?

While this may be a bit extreme, the idea of creating custom floors with epoxy has apparently taken off in a big way and people are creating amazing interiors with this new concept.  I’m loving it!

This sure would brighten up your morning!

This certainly makes a statement.  Not sure what kind of statement though…

The word ‘amazing’ has been so overused, don’t you think?  We include it in our  sentences when truly the every day things we are describing are not ‘amazing’!  But sometimes you come across things that really do deserve this adjective – like this street art….

Hiya Blair. They do take a long time but I have a lot of fun creating them. They are so random and I kind of like that. It was a pleasure to include your super helpful post, Blair. Love that you did it. And now I have to check out your smoothie bowl – strawberry cheesecake? Oh my!

Hi Robyn-it’s been so long since I have been to one of your Tuesday blog posts. I get your notices in my e-mail but mostly follow you on instagram cause I rarely if at all post a blog on my blog. I had to comment
today because your video on the Syrian refugees was wonderful and brought tears to my eyes. Thank-you
    so much for caring.

It brings tears to my eyes as well, Susan. So glad you enjoyed. It’s great to see these families find peace and safety after experiencing such turmoil.
Thanks for commenting. Glad to know one of my favorite readers is still here 🙂

Fascinated with houseboats ever since Sleepless in Seattle! The prices around Seattle and surrounding areas for houseboat living is pretty expensive. It would be a fun weekend rental though wouldn’t it?!
