HI! I’m Robyn and I love finding new ways to create dishes with fresh ingredients, low in calories and most of all, DELICIOUS! I believe it doesn’t have to be time consuming or expensive to eat HEALTHLY and I want to convince you of that too. Flashdrive-181
I created Simply Fresh Dinners during my quest to eat healthily every day while not tied to the kitchen for hours on end. I really don’t like to see food wasted so it just makes sense to plan my meals for the week and besides, who wants to go to the grocery store more often than necessary?  A weekly meal plan eliminates the age old question that nags busy people all day – ‘What am I going to cook tonight?’

In order for a recipe to be added to this blog, it must meet the following criteria:

  • Fresh ingredients
  • Under 500 calories  (most times!)
  • Under 45 minutes to make (ditto)
  • Easy

Sailboats - Mel Falk

I am an avid photographer, boater, reader (especially cookbooks), and have an endless fascination with the animal kingdom.  I have been an unapologetic fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers since I was a kid and discovered that watching football on Sundays was a cool way to hang with my dad and grandfather.

I’ve lived in both Ontario and British Columbia, Canada, and while I love both for differing reasons, BC is a magical land rich with stunning scenery of sparkling oceans, towering forests and granite mountains that take your breath away.  The air smells sweet and the only annoying noises are those of the birds when they are battling over dinner.  I’ve had a large buck deer walk up my driveway, sea lions bark at me and a cougar run through my backyard.  One of the best days of my life was the first time I met up with some orca whales and watched for hours as they splashed around, taught their young to hunt and at the end of the day come up close for a peek at us.

After a career in social work and management consulting, I fell into blogging  because of my love of entertaining and fresh, flavorful meals. Cooking brings a sense of peace and harmony to your life when you can share your creations with those you love.

After settling back in Ontario, (I returned in order to be close to family, particularly those two little cutie nephews you see below), I discovered two local farms owned by hard working families with a love for the earth and healthy produce.  It’s been a revelation to taste the difference and every visit to the farms inspires a new recipe that celebrates whole food.  You will see paleo, vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian dishes because I don’t subscribe to any particular type of diet except to keep it to fresh and whole.

The journey to best healthy eating is a fascinating one and I’m hoping that this blog and my new book will create a community of people striving to include seasonal, fresh produce in their family’s meals.

Cheers to healthy, happy eating!

      Hi Maureen,

Thanks so much for leaving a comment! I’m not on the island at the moment but I hope to be back again soon. (I guess I need to fix that and be more clear.) I miss it every single day. My home is North Saanich and I can’t wait to get back to paradise!
I hope you enjoy the blog and if there’s anything I can help you with, just let me know. There’s lots of salmon recipes here if you’re a fan 🙂

Thanks for the reply Robyn. Where do you live now? (if you want to say).
We LOVE salmon; we have it at least once a week. I will check out your recipes for sure.

It is beautiful here right now-but I am sure that doesn’t surprise you.

I am in the heart of the big city of Victoria! 😉

My husband is an artist who paints landscapes of this beautiful island. You can check him out if you want at http://www.ronparkerart.com.

Oh my goodness, Maureen, your husband’s work is breathtaking! Now I know where to go when I’m homesick. So beautiful and I’m especially taken with his capturing of Finlayson Arm – wow!

I’m in Barrie, ON, where we are currently buried in a couple feet of snow but it’s supposed to go up to 10 C this week so it looks like that’s going to change quickly, lol. Such a strange winter!

Please keep in touch and don’t hesitate to email directly with any questions or to simply chat at [email protected]. Have a great weekend. Such a pleasure to ‘meet’ you!

Thank you Robyn! That painting sold before Ron finished it.

Thank you for your kind words.

Your blog is a work of art too-seriously. I can only imagine how much work and dedication go into doing it. I will definitely ask questions and make comments! I guess you don’t need to hear about the blossoms right now. 😉

Thank you SO much, Maureen! The work part is easy because I have such a passion for it. It truly means so much when others enjoy it as well 🙂
So cool about your husband’s painting though not surprising – it’s spectacular!
I so miss the blossoms!! And I used to tease my family back here in Ontario about it, lol.

Accidentally ended up with way more asparagus that I could use in a week, so I searched for a quick pickled asparagus recipe and found yours…and your blog! Made it Saturday and served it Sunday when we had friends over for lunch. It was a hit! I loved the spicy bite and I’m glad we still have a couple of jars left to enjoy! I used the wide mouth 16oz jars, and recipe made just three with the amount of brine I had. Will visit your blog again!

      Hi Cathy,
So glad to hear you enjoyed the asparagus with a little spice! I wish I had used the wide mouth jars. It was quite interesting trying to stuff them all in there, lol.
I look forward to your future comments. Thanks for visiting!

      Hi Mary,
Thanks for your inquiry and I’m glad to hear you like my recipes!
I don’t make the meals for delivery though, I simply create the recipes and share them with readers. There are a number of healthy meal services that might interest you. I’m sure you can google companies for your area to find them.
Thanks again and please let me know if there are any recipes your family prefers. I’d love to create something special for you!

Hey guys, I just wanted to see if you need anything in the way of site editing/code fixing/programming, unique blog post material, extra traffic by getting others to start sharing your site across their own social media accounts, social media management, optimizing the site, monitizing the site, etc. I have quite a few ways I can set all of this and do this for you. Don’t mean to impose, was just curious, I’ve been doing this for some time and was just curious if you needed an extra hand. I can even do WordPress and other related tasks (you name it).

    Stay Safe,

    Winston
