Happy Tuesday, everyone. I hope your week is off to a good start. I think many of you were at home with your kids for a snow day yesterday so I bet the kidlets are ready to get back to a routine today – and you, too! Let’s hope today the snow has eased off 🙂
I don’t have just one specific blogger to introduce you in today’s tidbits but instead we’re going to talk about pasta and discover some new sites.
As usual, I spend a lot of my time daydreaming about recipes and right now pasta is in the forefront of my mind. I love pasta of every kind – lasagna, spaghetti, ravioli, manicotti…the list is endless. Now that we have the choices of gluten-free and rice pasta, we don’t have to feel guilty (or full) when we indulge. I also recently made a dish with zoodles (zucchini noodles) that I’m going to share with you very soon.
While I was looking through my bookmarks, I noticed that I had earmarked many noodle recipes from blogs in the past. (My favorites list is chaos! I have so many sites saved but they’re all in a jumble!) So today I thought I’d just point you to these beautiful spots so you can take a peek at their yummy dishes. I know you’re going to enjoy getting lost in these delectable delights!
Steamy Kitchen rocks a Healthy Spaghetti and Meatballs recipe that has 2 secret ingredients. This one is a keeper!
Fitness Magazine has a 5 Factor Lasagna that looks super healthy and perhaps will allow you to have seconds!
You can have this Ravioli and Vegetable Soup in 25 minutes. Check out the recipe at EatingWell.
Bon Appetit has a Ramen noodle recipe that is ‘heavy on the healthy’ that I am dying to try. Check out this deliciousness!
Who doesn’t love pasta primavera? This healthy version from Family Circle will have the kids wanting extra helpings of veggies.
One of my favourite chefs, Giada De Laurentiis has a beautiful Grilled Seafood Pasta Fra Diavolo that takes a little time but is worth it for the special flavours. Gorgeous!
I love it that there are so many ways to eat healthy pasta. What’s your favorite recipe?
Have you ever pondered your relationship to the universe in terms of size? Here is a post from Buzzfeed titled, ’26 Pictures Will Make You Re-Evaluate Your Entire Existence’. It will take you just a minute to scroll them them – but what an eye opening minute!
Are you confused by all the conflicting advice from nutritionists, scientists and dieticians about healthy eating? I know I am constantly surprised by some of the new information coming out and it takes time to sort out what is true and what’s a new gimmick for selling products.
EverydayHealth.com has a great post on 5 Essential Nutrients to Maximize Your Health. They cover everything from carbs, proteins, and fats, to vitamins and minerals and water. It’s a very good summary on what you need to know to eat healthy every day and will take you less than 3 minutes to read. (20 seconds if you’re a speed reader)
Just a note – if you see the latest craze of healthy maple water, skip it. There’s nothing in there that is going to change your life. It’s a scam and hopefully will just fade away quickly.
I love this article from Huffington Post titled, Here’s Proof The Best Things In Life are Free. This serves as a powerful reminder that we can find joy in the little things that will serve to bring us greater happiness in life.
There’s an interesting slideshow at the bottom of the post as well.
This video had me mesmerized. You won’t be disappointed.
What did you think? Did you take the test? Motivation!
Did you know that February is Kindness Month? Greatist.com is challenging everyone to participate and has put together a great calendar with some helpful ideas.
You can get a printable version of this from their site. These are such great ideas and I love that I can have this handy as a reminder not just for this month but all year round.
And here’s a little something to send you on your way with a smile. Have a great day!

February 3, 2015 at 2:29 pmLOL, I know what you mean, Stephanie. I was asking myself, ‘why didn’t I carry on a man on my shoulders through the mud when I was 25?”. I was stunned at the athletic prowess of these people.
Cajun Chicken pasta sounds divine and I hope you put it on your blog!
I’m home and raring to go! Lots of love and hugs to you. I’m off to link up with you today!

February 4, 2015 at 4:51 amI think there is a little tidbit for everybody here today. Great Post! I think my favorite is that the most important things in life are those that are free. Self esteem and motivation are some of the things that I work on with my teenagers often. Every day with teenagers you have some kind of drama so it is always good to have more resources and ways to get them back in the game of life. Of course I am a firm believer on the act of kindness month not just in February but all year around. I hope you have a snow blower there in Canada as I know if I was snowed in my favorite dish would be a bowl of comfort like this soup with loads of fresh veggies. Have a super week!

March 23, 2015 at 3:57 pmThanks for sharing! I think the key to eating pasta “healthily” is portion control…I mean seriously, if you order it at a restaurant they always give you enough for literally 3 meals!
