Happy Tidbits Day, everyone! It’s only been two weeks since the last tidbits but it feels much longer doesn’t it? Summer time gets so busy! Today I have loads of fun stuff for you so grab a coffee, tea or your favorite beverage and take a few minutes for you and enjoy.
I recently went out to the farm to visit and was so taken with the fresh produce there – particularly the peas so I thought I’d include some info on the benefits of eating peas as well as some fun recipes.
Chatelaine magazine has some great info on why we should be eating these yummy veggies:
Five reasons snap peas are a great snack:
1. They can boost your immunity: These peas are high in beta carotene and vitamin A. Retinol, which is a derivative of vitamin A, plays a pivotal role in the development of our immune cells, which fight off foreign invaders and keeps us healthy.
2. Peas are good for your bones: Sugar snap peas are a great source of vitamin K, which has been shown to not only aid in the creation of new bone cells, but also helps prevent fractures and even some forms of bone cancer.
3. They’re the ultimate guilt-free sweet snack: Sugar snap peas have a glycemic index of five, which means that they won’t send your blood sugar on a roller coaster ride and can aid in the prevention of diabetes. Low-glycemic diets also help decrease fat stores and discourage insulin resistance, so you can shed pounds while still satisfying your sweet tooth.
4. Snap peas help prevent fatigue: Sugar snap peas contain 18 percent of the daily recommended intake of dietary iron in one cup. Iron has been shown to reduce female fatigue, even in non-iron deficient women.
5. Up your daily fibre intake: Snap peas contain 4.5g of dietary fibre and 5g of protein per cup. A plant-based diet high in protein and fibre is the perfect recipe for a balanced weight-loss regime with long-lasting results. Snap peas can also be combined with lima beans to create a complete amino acid profile.
RateYourBurn.com has a great selection of healthy snap pea recipes that you’ll want to check out. They are such a great everyday snack and go so well in salads, too.

Ever wonder how they gather honey in Nepal? I bet you did! Well, today I have the answers for you at this website. These photos are going to blow your mind!!
Photos from Andrew Newey website.
So when you’re stepping out of the shower, how would you like to step onto a moss carpet? I’m of two minds with this but it made me chuckle when I saw it because all I could think was ‘what will they think of next?’
It’s been said that God first separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and fish… all before making a human. God made and provided what we’d need before we were born. These foods are best and more powerful when eaten raw. God left us a great clue as to what foods help what part of our body! This has been all over the internet but it’s worth another look.
A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye… and YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes. |
|
A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food. |
|
Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food. |
|
A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function. |
|
Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.
Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% calcium. If you don’t have enough calcium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.
Avocadoes, Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female – they look just like these organs. Today’s research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this? It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (mo dern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).
Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well to overcome male sterility.
Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.
Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries
Oranges, Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.
Onions look like the body’s cells. Research shows onions clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. Garlic also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body. |

Are you an introvert or an extrovert? Do you love having some time alone or do you crave the company of others all of the time? New studies of the brain reveal underlying neural differences in people’s brains contribute to their personality. That is to say that the formation of our personality may not all be due to psychological influences but may actually be pre-determined. Interesting stuff!
Do you consider yourself an extrovert or introvert? If you’d like to test yourself, try the Myers Briggs Personality Test here. The results can be fascinating.
And how about this pic of Fraser Island, Lake Wabby, in Australia? Not exactly a ‘day at the beach’ kind of place even though it’s truly beautiful. You and your picnic basket would be rolling down the hill and into the water all day!
If you can never resist those cute ‘animal of the week’ pics that newspapers love to run, take a peek at these ones from the Telegragh.co.uk.
We’re all at our grills now that the hot weather is finally here. Nagi from Recipe Tin is one of my favourite bloggers and her chicken recipes get me every time. Check out her latest! Absolutely mouth-watering!!

You know how you read about those people that get lost while they’re hiking and they tell these amazing stories about how they survived? Often times it will be because they had previously read some random article on what to do if you found yourself in a tricky situation. Here’s a list of techniques for surviving nature in all kinds of situations. They cover woods, desserts, jungles, extreme cold, and open water situations. I think we should take a moment to read it – you never know when it will come in handy.
I just discovered a site called It’s More Than Just a Photo that is chock full of pics that will make you smile. A great way to end Tidbits today. Click on the photos or link for lots more fun shots. Cheers!
Oh my goodness – how fun is this?!!
Animals know how to have fun too 🙂

July 7, 2015 at 5:18 amOh ROBYN! Good morning!
I love your Tuesday Tidbits….the recipes, the facts about foods that are healthy for us (love the walnut and what it resembles) and then, the animals….they make us HAPPY and are good for our health too because in their presence, our blood pressure stabilizes! When we were on holiday at the beach, we walked at least six miles on the beach so the softness of the sand was a great work out, the air mist was great for our lungs, but the SMILES and laughter came when we’d watch the dogs along the shoreline. From rolling in sand to fetching their favorite ball, they were HILARiOUS; you could see they loved where they live!
I hope you are no where near those fires? We got a HUGE cloud of smoke yesterday and could smell the fire…..be safe and well my friend. Thank you for the wonderful Tuesday morning moments. Anita

Maybe as long or if not longer than testing a recipe and getting all the photos…well maybe its a wash. What do you think? I love the graph on God left us a clue on foods that are good for your body and also the Tibetan way for getting honey… oh my goodness I would not want that job!!! I love Nagi’s grilled chicken dish too, just beautiful. Wishing you a super day!

July 7, 2015 at 9:56 amHappy Tuesday to you dear Robyn!
This was your best yet Tuesday Tid Bits, I absolutely enjoyed every “bit” of it. 🙂
You amaze me with all your information.
That food list that you shared sure gives us some “food for thought” WOW that was amazing! I read it to my husband and he said we are so ignorant to what is so simple to see and know. How easy it is to miss these things.
I really appreciated you sharing that info with us. I will certainly think differently when preparing my meals and add more goodness for various issues.
Now if that dolphin boat isn’t something! Yes please~ we’ll take one of those for our grandsons. 🙂 Oh why not just get them each their own! Lol 🙂
You have blessed my morning today, Thank you!
Enjoy your day and be blessed my sweet “Daffy” friend.
