Is everyone enjoying their summer? We had a very hot weekend here and it looks like it’s not going to let up but I’m sure not complaining about the heat after the winter we had! Take a few minutes for yourself, grab a cool drink and let’s look at some fun stuff together. I love Tuesday Tidbits!
Thai Grilled Watermelon Salad | Bam’s Kitchen
I have a few tasty recipes to share with you today and first up is this refreshing, unique salad from Bobbi at Bam’s Kitchen. This just takes my breath away with it’s simple freshness and wonderful flavours. Have you ever grilled watermelon? It’s never occurred to me but I can imagine it is super sweet!
And if you love your healthy sweetness, check out this wonderful mix of savory/sweet – Chargrilled Halloumi Prosciutto Nectarines with Balsamic Glaze. Bobbi has no limits to her imagination in the kitchen!
Another blogger friend you’ve met before is Christin from Blue Crab Martini and she’s got these amazing Key Lime Bars that look absolutely delicious.
Key Lime Bars (Gluten-Free and Grain-Free) | Blue Crab Martini
A blogger friend shipped some wonderfully fresh key limes to Christin and she created a healthy snack that is both gluten-free and grain-free. I’ve been emailing my friends and family this recipe and I know it will be a big hit. Can’t wait to try it!
Have you ever thought about where your food cravings come from? It’s so important to listen to what our bodies are telling us. I found this chart on herb-info.com – a site worth exploring. Instead of just instantly satisfying our bodies with junk food cravings, wouldn’t it be easier to look at the healthier alternatives that will both satisfy the hunger along with giving us the proper nutrients?
Hunger results from our body not receiving the nutrition it needs. Eating a junky snack food only temporarily satisfies it and you’re hungry again in no time. That’s your body saying – ‘hey, I want the good stuff, please’.
Do you ever wonder how happy people stay happy all the time? For many it’s matter of making up your mind to ‘be happy’. Sounds simple? It kinda is. If we put our energies into concentrating on being happy instead of the negative influences in our life, we’d see a major shift in our daily attitudes.
Danielle Davis from Today’s The Best Day has a simple list of 10 things to follow to be a happier person. Even though these are just perfect common sense, you’ll be surprised when you read them and realize how easy they are to incorporate into your daily life.
What do you do to ensure your day starts out happy?
Do rainy days make you happy? I LOVE them! Sometimes it’s nice just to curl up inside the house with a good book and a glass of wine and listen to the rain outside. If you find it soothing, you can go here to get your dose of rainy day whenever you want it.
Tyler Perry’s house is on the market and you just have to take a look! It’s so over the top it’s a little ridiculous but I like his story. At one point in his life he was homeless but he fought his demons and has been incredibly successful – in both his career and life.
He gives extensively to charities and it looks like he’s downsizing because apparently he has an even bigger house in LA. He has often said that he felt the need to go so opulent because he was afraid his fame and fortune wouldn’t last. Glad to hear he’s gotten over that, lol. The house is breath-taking!
Another celebrity’s house caught my eye this week and it’s just the type of house you would expect Johnny Depp to live in. It seems like a movie set and I love the spooky, romantic feel of it – could do without the skull though!
For a mere 25.8 million dollars this could be yours!
My friend, Anita, at Castles, Crowns and Cottages has returned to blogging and I couldn’t be happier! Her blog is a very special place and if you haven’t visited yet, you must! Anita is a true artist – she writes, she takes amazing photos, she dances – she does it all. I always describe her blog as a piece of heaven and a welcome respite from the world. We all need that and she creates magic.
You can find her on Instagram as well. Her photos are remarkable.

And here are 25 Ridiculously Beautiful You’d Rather Be Having Adventures In Right Now. Some of these spots leave me speechless! Take a peek – you won’t be disappointed.

If the kids are driving you nuts or your office environment is stressful, take a break in the middle of the day and go for a walk in the woods here. It may not be the real thing but it could help in reducing your anxiety for the moment.
Did you know that you can start a fire with gum wrappers and a battery? Somewhere in the recesses of my mind, I seem to remember being given that information way back in grade school but it was good to get a reminder of this life saving information.
Now I’ll tuck that away in my brain till I forget again in 20 years, lol.
This is an adventure that is not for the faint of heart. I can’t decide whether I would love this or my terror would overtake me. It certainly would be memorable either way. These capsules are built right into the cliffside and you have to do some rope climbing just to get into them!
Are you afraid of heights? Would this be fun or fearful for you? You have to admit, the night views are awesome!
And to celebrate the start of blueberry season, I am making these Gluten Free Almond and Blueberry Pancakes this weekend after I go berry picking! These are from my friend, Michelle, at Healthy Recipe Ecstasy and they look SO scrumptious!

Nothing better than fresh berries in the summer time!
I hope you enjoyed a break and had a smile today. Cheers!

July 21, 2015 at 6:40 amWOW. This Tuesday’s Tidbits is jam-packed with goodness and SURPRISES! First of all, I pinned that keylime bar recipe, and I need to record this recipe for the pancakes! Oh the beauty here! I will find out from you soon what you think of coconut flour and sugar…I’ve never used these products, but I MUST make those bars before summer is over! And that hanging glass vessel over the cliff…for me, I could NOT DO IT! But it sure looks fun. Then the rain…..oh yea, I’m one of those people who LOVE the gloomy, rainy days to cuddle up with a book and dream and write. But lately with taking photos, I hope for sunny days and I am finding myself chasing the sun and looking for just the right light.
THEN, you kind, kind friend! Thank you for sharing my blog site! How fun it is to see my dining room and great room! And I am having a blast on Instagram, hoping to improve more and more my photography AND my poetry.
Dear friend, this was a blast! Talk soon, Anita

July 21, 2015 at 9:16 amHoly cow! I don’t think you could get me to the bed hanging off the cliff. It might not be so bad inside but it is the getting there and leaving there to safety that would test my fear factor… LOL So happy to finally meet Anita from Castle, Crownes and cottages, beautiful photos! I totally did not know that trick about chewing gum wrappers and a battery, so the curious mind I am need to try that this evening… Cool. I bet my youngest wished he knew this trick before he headed off to Alaska!!!! Thanks so much for including our Thai Grilled Watermelon Salad, so sweet of you! Sharing and thank you dear for a fun Tuesday tidbits!

July 22, 2015 at 9:16 amWonderful post Robyn. It is strange so many of us posted grilling fruits. It completely changes the texture.I am afraid of heights, so you won’t find me sleeping in that bed. Love keylime flavor, so I will try these. Pancakes are such a great breakfast food. I love how we can change it up. I agree about relaxing with a good book on a rainy day. Take care. Lots of love to you. xo

July 22, 2015 at 9:49 amWonderful post, Robyn. The recipes look mouthwatering. As for adventures I know I couldn’t do the overnight on the side of a cliff. I’m sure the views would be breathtaking, but I wouldn’t see it anyway because I’d be passed out. LOL! Heights and me do not get along. Now, a beautiful storm on the other hand I would love to watch. The photo from Italy was gorgeous. Hope you’re having a great week!
