Tuesday Tidbits (No.43)

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  I’m back on track with Tuesday Tidbits and I have a fun line-up today of talented bloggers, useful health information, some eye-popping photography and of course, giggles to make your day.

Let’s not waste a minute and get started with a very talented blogger, Kevin, from Kevin is Cooking  who features big, bold flavors with an international twist.  As I’m typing this, I’m reminded that I’ve dropped the ball on my monthly international dish!  Acckss…time to get back on that!

Ahi Poke and Quinoa Salad | Kevin Is Cooking

Kevin and his flavorful recipes are definitely an inspiration to search out and create dishes with an international flair. Each week I look forward to his recipes and this one is especially exciting!

One of the reasons I love Kevin’s food so much is that his dishes are always full of interesting flavors, colors and textures – nothing boring here!  This gorgeous bowl of healthy yumminess is not going to last long on your table.  There are so many nutritious fruits and veggies and quinoa, too!  I’m including quinoa in more of my recipes lately and I have a readers’ special coming soon with this essential ingredient.

I love that Kevin’s dressing is such a beautiful complement to the salad and you’ll discover that his recipes always have a surprising twist and an extra ingredient that will give you that fabulous pop of unforgettable flavor.  Thanks for sharing this today with us, Kevin.  I’m a big fan and look forward to more healthy deliciousness from your kitchen!

If you love diversity in your kitchen and enjoy introducing new flavors to your family, Kevin’s awesome blog is the place for you!

The Yale Cocktails | Kitchen Riffs

Another blogger who I thoroughly enjoy is John from Kitchen Riffs.  His writing is so entertaining that even if he were just writing about his funny cat, I’d be a regular visitor!  This cocktail was particularly appealing this week and don’t you think it will make a beautiful addition to your holiday parties?  And you can really impress your guests when you explain the name and history of this cocktail.21810217000_a211b172c8_o

Take a selfie, of course!  What a shock to run into a stranger who looks like your twin.  Scientists say that we each have approximately seven doppelgangers around the world.  Have you ever run into someone who looks similar to you?  I apparently look similar to someone named Wendy and have had many people yell out her name to me in stores, restaurants, etc.  I always have to make a point of stopping and telling them I’m not her in order to get them to stop.  I’ve never met her but I sure would like to!  Check out their story and some others here.

nelly

Did you know that Nelly has been sending two kids to college every year for the past decade?  According to a recent interview where he expressed his concerns about the issues facing the black community, he felt it was necessary to find ways to inspire change.

“I try to do it through education,” Nelly explained. “The only way we’re going to get this is to elevate. We have to get the kids to go out of these communities. Graduate. Get the knowledge. Come back to the community and then they can run it because they understand the people and understand the severity of the situation.”

I love his commitment.  And I love that he’s been giving so generously without any thought about the publicity he would garner.  Go Nelly!  You can read more here. 🙂

Entrepreneur.com has a fantastic article on how to keep your mind and body sharp by following the advice from the Iceman!

Cold exposure (cold showers and ice baths), breathing exercises and meditation are just a few of the things recommended to keep your mind working at it’s sharpest.  As drastic as an ice bath sounds, I think it may be worthwhile trying.

When you’re outside in the very cold weather, don’t you find that you feel super alert?  Perhaps our brains are wired for survival that way?  This Iceman makes the claim that he is extremely sharp for the rest of the day after a cold shower.  I like it!  Maybe it’s because I’m Canadian and I’m used to it, ha!

We’ve all heard the new haunting song, ‘Hello’ by Adele and here is a young student that bravely tackles and owns the song.  Such a difficult song to sing and she kills it!  Have a great day, everyone.

Good morning my sunshine! I am late…had to stay late at school then crashed when I came home last night! But your Tuesday Tidbits are not to be missed. Every recipe selection followed by happy moments is like going to a relaxing restaurant and seeing uplifting entertainment. And I TOO have seen my look-alike several times, but one in particular was at the same school where my husband and I lived during our graduate studies! It was WEIRD because we wore the same glasses, hair the same color and length, same build and weight….WEIRD!

WEll my dear, enjoy this wonderful day leading us closer and closer to our American Thanksgiving. BIG HUGS! Anita
