Time for Tuesday Tidbits, everyone! Are you feeling Spring in the air yet? I think the fever is catching and the grass in my backyard is actually visible! Along with the new season comes the beautiful fresh local produce like carrots, fennel, spring onions and, everyone’s favorite, asparagus. Can’t wait! (Update – I wrote this on the weekend and now we’re in the middle of another blizzard! eeekkss!)
Of course with the month of March comes St. Patrick’s Day and I’ve got some healthy dishes to help you along with your celebration.
For more healthy fun, you can visit this Pinterest board. What are you doing to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?
This super infographic from Life Hacker illustrates the phytonutrients you need to stay healthy. This is one of the best I’ve seen. Visit their site and print it out for your fridge. Great reminders and a valuable teaching tool for your kids.
We all want to start our days out right and here are 7 very sensible (and easy) things to do each morning to help. Love this and I’m going to pay attention to #2 because I sure don’t wait for one hour! I’ve been guilty of even doing this during the middle of the night – crazy!
What do you do to start your day out in a healthy way?
Did you ever play that game where you would lay on the grass and look up at the clouds in the sky and describe the different images? The clouds could look like a dog, a car, a teacup….so many fun things. I used to do this with my Dad and ever since then I’ve been fascinated by cloud formations and this site blew me away with their striking photos from around the world.
If I saw these clouds though, I’m pretty sure I’d be running into the house!
For example, did you know there are more atoms in a glass of water than there are glasses of water throughout every ocean on Earth? For more fun facts, click here.
And for another wonder on this earth, check out these marble caves in Patagonia, South America.
There are boat tours through this beautiful maze of marble. Check out the pictures here – they’re magnificent!
I first saw this pic on the internet about 7 years ago and used it as a screen saver for a long time. I find it so endearing and it would make me smile every time I sat down at my desk. Here are some other wildlife photos that have captured animals at their very best. You’ll love the lions!
Everyone is building smaller homes these days but 160 square feet? This little house has everything it needs but I’m not sure I could manage in this tiny space. I’m especially unsure about having those huge glass windows out in the woods. I’m thinking a bear would look in there at night and imagine that you’d make a tasty treat!
On the other hand, all that glass isn’t going to work in the city either. Hmmm….Yes or No? Check out more pics here.
Now here’s a house I could get behind. Wow! The photos of this unusual, spectacular house are stunning!
Have you done much cruising? It seems to be a very popular way to see the world. One of the things I like most is that you only unpack once but still get to visit so many destinations. (I’m a terrible packer!).
Julie recommends avoiding the main deck on the first day.
I wanted to save this one till the end because Julie from Gourmet Getaways has written a must-read article on preparing for your first cruise. This is a good read even for seasoned travelers and I wish I had this info before my first cruise. I was completely overwhelmed by the sheer number of passengers! When the dinner bell rang I was freaked out wondering why there was this wild pounding of feet all over the ship. I felt like I was in the middle of a Wild West cattle call! Julie will give you valuable hints and tricks to make the very most of your first experience so you don’t feel like a newbie like me. Be a rock star on your first cruise!
Thanks for sharing this important info with us, Julie!
I’ve long believed in the healing power of music and here is a beautiful story that will demonstrate it perfectly. Warning: it’s a tear jerker but it will also warm your heart in the most wonderful way!
WOW!!!!!!!!! Good morning, Robyn! I so love your Tuesday Tidbits; they are packed with nutrients for body, mind and soul. That BABY ELEPHANT! tehehehehehehehehehhehee That nutrition chart as well is super informative. I have been following a healthy eating style now for at least 35 years, making sure I eat colorful food each day, but it’s always encouraging and uplifting to see the foods I love and eat plenty of make the charts. You asked the question, “How do you start your day in a healthy way?” I eat breakfast. I eat berries, the best Icelandic yogurt on the market with raw oats, nuts, dried fruit. Then I try to go into work with a good attitude (sometimes it changes by the end of the day!) – so for me, I have a good plan for the start of the day, but by the end of the day, what helps me get “healthy” again is coming home, enjoying my husband, eating another healthy meal and trying to get a good night’s sleep. OH, and creativity!
Have a sensational start to March dear friend! Anita
I totally agree — spring (and its produce) can’t come soon enough! Sorry that you have so much snow on the ground right now. 🙁

I am so looking forward to spring. It was nice here the other day but now we got snow again. Hopefully the warm aor will be here soon for good. Love the green recipes you have on today, especially the fruit skewers. So creative! Hope you are staying warm. 🙂
Great tidbits and I’m looking forward to Spring, too. Once we get past this storm tonight? 🙂 Love that tiny house. I could totally live in 160 sq. feet. Jennifer @ Seasons and Suppers recently posted…Colcannon Soup
Love, Love, Love Tuesday tidbits. I always learn something new. Do you get this TV station about tiny houses in Canada too? It reminds me of most of the housing here in HK… LOL Actually the housing here in HK is much smaller. I am certain I am not getting enough purple foods, so I am going to add another glass of purple wine to help sort out my deficiency… Sharing! Bam’s Kitchen recently posted…DIY Pita Pizza Party
How timely, I just told my husband in bed last night that I was getting interested in tiny houses…I fell asleep dreaming about how I’d design mine 🙂 I love your Tuesday tidbits! sue|theviewfromgreatisland recently posted…No Bake Cookies and Cream Cookie Dough Bars
Hi Robyn, I cried like a baby on the last one, so inspiring. Another great Tuesday, loved the tiny house too, I could live in that in that place with all those windows. Take care! cheri recently posted…Cottage Cooking Club Three Recipes Month of February
I love that info-graph, however, I have to admit, I am probably the only one who actually ODs on vegetables. Seriously. I eat like 4 – 5 pounds a day! BAH AH A HA HA! GiGi Eats recently posted…Don’t Do That! Do This!
So many wonderful links, Robyn! Love the animals and clouds. I’m going to have to download the info graphic – so much useful info. But my favorite is the tiny house. Wouldn’t it be great to put it next to a lake and have a mini vacation home – so cute and everything self contained – just wonderful and zen like! Some great tidbits this time! And some truly terrific pictures. Although we haven’t had a particularly tough winter this year, I’m looking forward to warmer weather. SO looking forward to spring! We had a wind storm here yesterday afternoon/evening but no snow. Actually mild temps all this winter for the most part. That frittata is so cute – will make note of it for March 17th since I am not a corned beef kind of gal. A deep breath and some stretches gets my morning going. And Patagonia…what a dream!
