Tuesday Tidbits

It’s Tuesday Tidbits Time!  I hope everyone’s week is off to a good start and you’re ready for some beautiful dishes, a gorgeous blogger and her touching love story, some helpful tips in the kitchen and of course, a smile to start your day!

Thomas-and-Maggie

This is Maggie from Omnivore’s Cookbook.  That’s her boyfriend, Thomas, who has been her biggest supporter and proof reader.  Aren’t they cute?!  I’m a huge fan of her cooking and I’ve enjoyed sharing her recipes on here.  Omnivore’s Cookbook features Chinese and Asian inspired recipes that have very detailed, step by step instructions and her videos will give you the courage to cook even the more challenging dishes.  There are many quick, easy and healthy dishes as well and I just love exploring the flavour combinations she uses.

Maggie and Thomas have had a long distance relationship for 3 years now.  She’s in Beijing and he’s in the US so they visit twice a year and Skype every day.  They both love to travel and especially enjoy discovering new restaurants that include Italian, French, Mexican, and many other cuisines.  Seems that food blogging was a natural fit.  Maggie will be coming to the US in the next year to begin her life with Thomas – don’t you just love a happy ending?…. and a wonderful beginning!

Let’s look at some of Maggie’s delectable dishes.

Baked-Seafood-Pasta-2

Baked Seafood Pasta from Omnivore’s Cookbook

Seafood + Pasta = Heaven.  This dish is just what I’ve been craving lately.  The colder it gets, the more comfort food I want.  This has it all and Maggie’s photography is so lovely!

Tomato-Soup-Noodles_014

Tomato Noodle Soup from Omnivore’s Cookbook

I love everything about this recipe – it’s versatile, it’s great comfort food and it’s just the right medicine during cold and flu season.  Scrumptious!

Bang-Bang-Chicken-4

Bang Bang Chicken from Omnivore’s Cookbook

I included this bowl of healthy deliciousness because I know how you all love chicken!  I have made this dish and plan on making it again and again.  Fabulous flavours and textures – promise me you’ll try it!

It truly was a pleasure to share your story today, Maggie.  Thanks for letting us take a peek into your life and your wizardry in the kitchen!BorderUntitled lemons-bowl-citrus-blueberries-saucer-food-hd-wallpaper1-694x417

If you’re doing all you can to eat healthily but still find yourself needing a little energy boost throughout the day, here’s a great site to check out with loads of suggestions for foods that will give you that extra oomph when you need it.  There’s a list of 25 snacks that are going to help you stick with your resolutions for the new year.  How’s that going by the way?BorderUntitled

I’ve posted this before but for the new readers, I’m sure you’re going to want to bookmark this site.  I printed it out and put it on my fridge as a reminder.  These are great tips on food storage and if you want to ensure to get the most out of your fruits and veggies, follow this guide and it will save you money and cut down on food wastage.BorderUntitled

Are you a book lover?  Enjoy a bargain as well?  Then Book Bub is the place for you.  They have incredible deals on books.  Most are as low as $1.99 and many times the publishers are giving them away for free.  They are able to do this because often a publishing house will give away free copies of a previously written book by an author if they want to promote their newest work.  Whether you’re using Google Play, Kindle, Kobo, or most any kind of E-Reader they’ve got something for you!  Love thisBorderUntitled

When I am planning my dream house, I often go back and forth between rustic, old world and ultra – modern.  It usually depends on the latest images I’ve seen.  I’m so fickle!  Then I came across this image on Pinterest and knew that I would have to build a house around this room.

Simple yet Fabulous!

Well, that lasted all of 10 minutes because I came across these two images next and I was right back to old world!  What’s your dream home like?  Traditional? Modern? Rustic? Or something entirely different….

Can you picture lunch with the girls here?  Lots of Italian food!

This is so romantic!  Still requires lots of Italian food!

Here’s a short but fun video on amazing facts.  I’m  reluctant to use the word ‘amazing’ because I think it’s overused today but in this case it definitely applies!

And an update on George, the rescue dog that my brother and his family adopted last summer.  George has come out of his shy phase and fits right in.  He’s so comfortable that now he’s doing what all labs do – eating whatever they can get their paws on!  Isn’t he adorable?

Have a great day, everyone!

G E O R G E is sooooooooooo CUTE! This is my favorite dog of all time, then the wire haired fox terrier, a real terror, but a cutie!

Good morning sweet Robyn! I so miss the blogging scene, but I stay in by visiting my favorites. HI THERE! I love the ideas from the Omnivore site, and then the foods that give you energy; I know…I eat all of them except celery! But I think the trick with many of them is the water content. The first thing I have in the morning is a large tumbler of water, eat my oats, blueberries and yogurt, then my hot water with lemon! There’s no stopping me after that!

I hope you are well. MISSING YOU! Anita

Hi Robyn, thanks so much for featuring my blog and I’m flattered! But I’d say you picked some of my favorite recipes. Nice choice 🙂
Just find out you’re about getting a new house, that’s so exciting! I know the dilemma, because I love both the rustic and the modern style! The pictures you showed here are all very lovely and I’d be happy to have any of them! lol
Enjoy the rest of your vacation and take care 🙂

Another wow post. I love coming here if I haven’t said it before. Actually I get you in my e-mail. Style of décor for me is comfort first and pleasing to the eye. Eye candy. Not dull. I like romance but you can put me down in any style and I will like it if it is comfortable. I am not a fan of modern but I like some, I just couldn’t live in it.

The pasta and seafood recipe looks amazing – thanks for sharing this new site with us. Love the light filled room you shared – isn’t it fun to dream and plan?! I could definitely see myself in one of those yellow chairs eating an Italian lunch…sigh…and that dog, so cute : )

Welcome Back Robyn! I adore Maggie’s website as she is always making delicious dishes that my boys will love with items I can find easily in HK. Don’t you just love her photos! George is a sweetheart and looks like the perfect little fellow to curl up with a good book with and to take for hikes. I am right with you on my sway for modern to rustic places to live in my dream home. However, I know now after living in an apartment, I never want to go back to being a slave to my home with all of the landscaping and upkeep of a really large garden. I think I have lost years of my life behind a rake, snowblower and lawn mower. So maybe with our dream home it needs to come with a cute lawn boy as well. Take care. Sharing, of course!
