What comes to mind when I dream of Greece…..Beauty….Romance…..and of course, FOOD! When you combine all three it results in the perfect, idyllic vacation. One in which you would never want to leave. One in which you say to yourself every day, ‘I could live here!‘
No matter how many pictures I see of the sparkling, azure seas and the brilliant white buildings, I never tire of imagining a journey to Greece to explore it’s history, to meet the people and to soak it all in with my loved one. I want to lose myself in the luxury of a expensive villa, explore the busy markets and dance the night away on the beach eating fresh seafood and drinking ouzo with my new found Greek friends. Seeing as a friend of mine recommended I checked out a site like e-mietwagenkreta.de, I think I will be able to explore Greece as much as I want when I decide to come back. Being in the city this time would be what I want to be a part of. But this time, I want to try and live a luxury lifestyle. I would love to travel to Tzamaria beach, feel the sand between my toes. look out at the teal blue sea and of course enjoy the food!
To quote the beautiful Anita, “PLEASE LISTEN TO THE MUSIC – IT GOES WITH THE STORY”
It all begins with the choicest of villas with breathtaking views….
and a bed that you can sink into for the sweetest of dreams….
Before heading off to a day of strolling the beaches and discovering hidden treasures…..
Exploring the marvelous markets…..
Making new friends……
and finding the perfect snacks for our mid-afternoon rendezvous on the terrace.
Where shall we go for dinner? So many choices – so many fresh, wonderful foods to choose from. Greece is famous for their culinary creations and best among them is their olive oil and beautiful breads.
Seafood is my passion so the choice is easy the first night….
And the second night…. and probably the third! We must have octopus because it’s one of their most famous dishes.
This land is magical with it’s brilliant colours, the people and their food and music and hospitality – so much to explore and so much to absorb….
And after we have attended the festivals…..
Seen the magnificent ancient ruins….
Caught ourselves some fresh fish….
Maybe it is time to just stay in and enjoy the company and the view.

Please click on the picture above to visit all the blogging adventures in Europe this week. They will take you on a trip of a lifetime.
I won’t be drinking ouzo and dancing on the beach tonight but I did make Greek lamb at home for this occasion so I hope this will be a fun dish for those of you wanting to experience a little bit of Greece in your kitchen.

July 18, 2014 at 5:14 amOh Robyn….the music (doesn’t music add an extra POW to the post?)
You have taken me away to a place that since childhood, I’ve dreamed of. I used to wish that I’d go there on my honeymoon….and this music is lulling me into your perfectly selected photos. The seafood, the thought of the crisp sea air and the people..we can live in a peaceful and lovely world if people could just celebrate more than making negative situations…this is a most GORGEOUS post, and I appreciate your participation in such a colorful and loving way.
Oh the fun this is…I intend on visiting all morning long. Big hugs and may your dream come true. BISOUS, Anita

July 18, 2014 at 11:42 amBeautiful Robyn, how LOVELY to read your comment on my post and to learn that you’ve been to MY DREAM DESTINATION: The Netherlands, and that you saw them really wearing wooden shoes! A Dutch colleague of my husband’s at the university had a pair. He let me put them on one night during a dinner party and what did I do? hahahahha…..I tried to dance in them and DOWN DID I GO…I teetered over – TIMBER! teeeeheee….he laughed so hard and ever since then when we’d see each other, that conservative professor just bust out laughing….
Oh my friend, I think I need to make a Greek dinner now, thanks to your genius! HUGS! Anita

Stunning photography for a grand tour of Greece. When I was young and newly-wed, I lived on Cyprus with my Navy husband. Oh, the memories are so cherished of a care-free time filled with young love and unscheduled trips to the coast for snorkeling and kayaking, followed by fresh delicious meals in the open air. We were fortunate to travel a little and to get to see a sound and light show of the Parthenon.
Thank you for your visit, and for leaving such a nice comment.

February 4, 2015 at 6:29 pmThis music is so beautiful! I was wondering if you could let me know the name of the artist and cd name. Both my parents were from Greece and i’ve been there a few times myself. I loved your picture of the Parthenon. Thanks.

February 4, 2015 at 7:02 pmHi Irene,
I don’t have the name of the artist. On the youtube video it just says ‘bouzouki instrumental’. Perhaps you can google it and find more from there.
So glad to hear you enjoyed your visit here. Lucky you and all your trips to Greece!
