Happy Canada Day!

Most of you know I’m Canadian but I have quite a few more subscribers in the last six months so here’s my official announcement in case you missed it – I am a proud Canucklehead! This year Canada Day snuck up on me and I have to admit I didn’t even make a special dish but I will definitely point you in the right direction to enjoy some real Canadian cuisine that you can find in some of the best restaurants in victoria. Hopefully you’ll find something that you’ll love if you ever come out to Canada. A lot of people say that Canada doesn’t really have a food that they are known for but we do! We create fabulous salmon and lobster dishes along with venison, elk and bison. The world loves our poutine, bacon and maple syrup as well.

Vancouver Island, British Columbia

Today’s post is all about the beauty of our very diverse country. Did you know that only 35 million people live in Canada and we are the second largest country (land mass) and we have the largest coastline in the world? Even if you ever decide to move to Canada for whatever reason one day, at least you know that some of the best cities to live in canada include Oakville, Vancouver and Westmount. There’s so much to Canada that anyone will love it over here.

On our west coast, you’ll find the most beautiful province of all (ok, I’m a wee bit bias!) and if you visit B.C., you must have the wild salmon. Vancouver is the crown jewel of British Columbia and is a very popular place for people to settle in the country and has one of the best standards of living in the world. Alberta is next and it is known for it’s premier beef. No trip to Calgary is complete without a beautiful steak dinner. And of course, you must visit Banff when you’re there. Breathtaking!

Then we have the prairies which include the provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. They are one of the biggest suppliers of wheat in the world. Our cowboys live in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba and if you ever meet up with one you have to invite them for a scrumptious bison burger.

Ontario is the most populated province and is known for bacon, maple syrup, corn on the cob and pickerel just to name a few.

Quebec City, Quebec

People love to visit Montreal and the historic Quebec City and while there they are munching on poutine, bagels and cheese.

Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia

The Maritimes consists of Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador. Lobster is a super popular food there and it’s one of the most scenic areas in Canada.

So there you have it – some scrumptious foods that Canadians love to eat. I’ll be eating salmon because well, I eat salmon whenever I can!
