Strawberry Cantaloupe Slushie

I know everyone’s super busy this long weekend enjoying the last days of summer so I wanted to sneak in this extra post for the kids.  This is a quick and easy treat that will get some nutritious fruits into your little ones and beat the heat at the same time.  It takes less than 5 minutes of prep time so you’ll love it!

You’ll have to be the judge of how much honey you add but I’m suggesting a tablespoon.  I’m hearing from a few readers that their melons are not as sweet as they would like so be sure to do a taste test before you put it in the freezer to set.

This is great as a dessert or when the kids are hungry mid-afternoon, this will tide them over till dinner.  They won’t even know it’s good for them!

This is a super quick post because I want to get out and enjoy the sunshine this weekend, too 🙂  Cheers!

Thanks, Bobbi. It’s a fun little recipe for kids, for sure. I’m having a great time but, oh my gosh, it’s even more humid than usual here. Last night being outside was like being in an oven, lol.
      Having fun, too?

It’s so hot here this weekend, Stephanie, and kids just seem to love this. They can help make it, too. Don’t you love that there is a big push on to get kids learning about cooking healthy? Such an important life skill!

    Good morning, sunshine! WOW.

Wow on your recipe, because as far as slushies are concerned, I’ve always thought BERRIES. But melon? OH YEAH! But true, I haven’t eaten cantaloupe for a long time since the last one I ate was not sweet at all, but honey to the rescue! Long ago, I made a WATERMELON-PLUM slushie that was out of this world refreshing!

NOW…..your photos. PERFECT! The aqua colored cups and spoons in contrast with the white and the food is brilliant my friend. Absolutely perfect.

Ahhh…..a three-day weekend and after my first wild be wonderful week of school, I am enjoying myself. Hoping you are too! Much love, Anita

I had never even made a slushie before, Anita, but it seemed to be the perfect thing for these wonderful fruits. I LOVE the idea of watermelon and plum! I just picked up a bunch of plums yesterday.
Thanks so much for your sweet comments about the photos. (a tad over-processed but that couldn’t be helped, lol)
So glad to hear you’re enjoying your time back teaching. Lucky students! Have fun this weekend, friend!
