Strawberry Sauce (Sugar Free) from Simply Fresh Dinners

This is the best time of year because the farmer’s market is open and all the delicious berries are coming into season.  The most popular one by far is the strawberry and people will be descending upon my favorite farm, Barrie Hill Farms to pick their own – rain or shine!

Hand picked strawberries from Barrie Hill Farms

I love collaborating with the farm to bring fresh, seasonal recipes to you and I will be visiting at least twice a week for inspiration this summer.  It is absolutely my favorite place to be!

Barrie Hill Farms Strawberries. Pick Your Own!

The berry is a work of art and I don’t mess with perfection!  The best plant based food needs only natural ingredients to enhance and enjoy and this 3 ingredient strawberry topping is quick, easy and pure goodness.  Try it on yogurt, ice cream, pancakes, pie or cheesecake.  The possibilities are endless!

Strawberry Sauce (Sugar Free)

This Sugar Free Strawberry Sauce is made with pure maple syrup and a squeeze of lemon – the perfect complement to these hand picked, amazingly sweet berries!

  • 1 lb strawberries, rinsed, cut in half
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup (add more if you like it saucier)
  • 1/2 lemon
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine sliced strawberries, 1/3 cup maple syrup and freshly squeezed juice from 1/2 lemon.  On medium heat, bring the mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally.

  2. Reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes or until sauce is thickened. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.

  3. The sauce will thicken up as it cools and if you are storing it in the refrigerator, it will thicken even more so be careful to get the consistency you want.

  4. Serve as a topping on your favorite dessert or savory dish.  This was fantastic on chicken!

This Strawberry Sauce has only 3 natural ingredients - berries, pure maple syrup and lemon juice!

I’m so excite to try this. We’ve cut back on sugar ever since dad was diagnosed with diabetes and I’m so excited to try strawberry sauces that doesn’t contain any added sugar.

I think strawberries and raspberries are my favorite food on the planet besides chocolate, lol. But then again, they go so well with chocolate! Win/win!
