Tuesday Tidbits

tuesday header3 Happy Tidbits Day, everyone – I’m so glad you could join us. I’m excited to introduce a fellow Canadian who has also criss-crossed the country and I think we’ve just missed each other a few times.  Helene from La Cuisine d’Helene grew up on a farm learning to cook and bake with seasonal foods from her mother.  She has travelled extensively and her love of global fare is reflected in her gorgeous dishes. Heleneunnamed Helene’s photography is gorgeous as you will see in this Slow Cooker Curry Chicken recipe.  I keep meaning to create some recipes with a slow cooker but with dishes like this  – well, why reinvent the wheel?  This looks perfect!  Slow Cooker Curry Chicken     by  La Cuisine d’Helene

This dish is quick and easy yet has great flavours to complement the chicken.  I’m finding that I am craving chicken a lot since the weather has cooled, what about you? HELENEchocolateraspberrymuffins

Chocolate Raspberry Muffins   by La Cuisine d`Helene

These muffins contain two of my favourite ingredients.  Chocolate and raspberry are a match made in heaven.  Helene lets you indulge in this treat without all the guilt because she has carefully created a recipe with few calories so we can munch to our heart`s content.  This has got to be my favourite muffin on the planet!

You will love this blog with it`s stunning images and innovative recipes!  Thanks so much for sharing with us today, Helene.

I like to include bananas in my diet every day and that’s become easier since I started drinking this smoothie from House of Yumm .  (I leave out the oats and add protein powder. Yes, GiGi – you convinced me on protein powder!). So that is why I was thrilled to read this piece on why bananas are extremely good for you. Chiquita-DM2-minion-banana-3   Here’s just a couple of facts that they point out…

  • Bananas contain Vitamin B6, which regulate blood glucose levels. This vitamin will also put you in a better mood!
  • Eating two bananas can give you enough energy for a 90-minute workout.

I’m sure you’ve all seen that amazing things that Go-Pro cameras can do.  You saw an example of it on Walter the dog as he ran for the water and this link will take you to a very cool eagle view.  But now they have taken it to a new level by giving us an close-up view of the Bardabunga volcano in Iceland which erupted recently.  Fascinating stuff!

National Geographic is airing a special on December 20th, on the world’s biggest cave which was just recently discovered in 2009 by British cavers.  Son Doong is a huge, underground labyrinth in Vietnam.

As much as I admire these explorers, I don’t think I could do this – in fact, I’m SURE I couldn’t do this!  I am glad others like it though.  Click here for more astonishing pictures.BorderUntitled

To join in with the Fall season, I have made an Autumn salad with a very quirky but delicious combination of ingredients. I hope you’ll come by on Thursday for the recipe.  Enjoy your day, everyone!BorderUntitled

Ohhh, one more thing!  I was out at Barrie Hill Farms  on Sunday and took some photos of the biggest pumpkin I’ve ever seen!  Thought you’d get a kick out of it, too.  More on the farm this week!

Happy Tuesday Robyn! Thanks for introducing us to Helene. That slow cooker curry chicken looks divine . I think my youngest son must be part monkey or just working to have enough power for some major powerhouse workouts as he eats something like 6 of them a day. I asked him the other day if he was having a fruit sale out in front of the apartment as where is he putting it all? My husband purchased a Go-Pro for their sailing trip to Australia and we love it. We have not yet tried to mount it on Buddy our dog but we will have look into that option. Now that is what I call a pumpkin! How did you wrestle that one home to put into your autumn salad? Take Care, BAM

Hiya Bobbi. I really have to start using my slow cooker – I kind of forget about it. Wow – that’s some serious banana consumption. How do you keep up?
I’d love to have a Go-Pro camera. So fabulous for on the water!
As for the pumpkin – just tossed it on the roof and tied it down, of course!
      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

I could totally use some slow cooker chicken right now… and a walk through some fall trees! LA is about 90 degrees right now… Not exactly “fall” weather, LOL!

I hope you’re feeling better, GiGi. I think I could cope with the 90 degrees, lol, but the trees are truly beautiful, aren’t they?

I love gorgeous photos and great recipes, such a pleasure to see and read. You always manage to post so many interesting things on your Tuesday posts. The pictures, visions, mixed with interesting facts and humor makes my day. I am not feeling well this week, have a case of pneumonia. I keep pushing myself….I am also somewhat cranky because of it…. I am off to take a nap. Hope your life is going well, my sweet friend. Lots of love from WW.
