Tuesday Tidbits (No. 34)

tuesday-header3

Hi everyone, I hope your week is off to a good start. Today I’ve got lots of fun, food, cuteness and giggles for you so fill your coffee cup, relax and treat yourself to a few minutes of ‘me’ time.

What does your breakfast look like? A piece of toast? A coffee and cereal? I usually do a strawberry/banana protein shake but on the weekends if there’s time, I like to do something a little more substantial. Here’s some healthy, scrumptious solutions to spend some quality breakfast time with your family.

Eggs have been given a bad rap in the past but finally experts are agreeing that, although they are high in cholesterol, they do NOT cause heart disease. In fact, eggs raise HDL (the good) cholesterol. They also change LDL cholesterol from small, dense LDL (which is bad) to large LDL, which is benign so dig in!

Every Thursday I visit Miz Helen to link up my recipes to her fabulous party. There’s lots of inspiration there and Miz Helen is a great hostess. With Summer finally here you’ll want to visit her Recipe Box where you can get recipes for Canning and Preserving. There are great ideas for strawberry jam, pickles, corn relish, vanilla peach butter….the list goes on and on. You’ll find all you need in one place.

If you’re a food blogger, link up your recipe as well and you’ll have a chance to be featured. Be sure to say hi to Miz Helen – she’s a doll!

Bridge

This year, the world’s tallest and longest glass-bottom bridge will open in China’s Zhangjiajie national park. Designed by Israeli architect Haim Dotan, the bridge will span 1,410 feet over a breathtaking 984-foot drop and offer panoramic views of the landscape. In comparison, the Grand Canyon Skywalk in Arizona is just 69 feet long and stands 718 feet above the canyon. The Zhangjiajie bridge isn’t only for casual tourism; it will serve as a runway for fashion shows, and it’ll be home to the world’s highest bungee jump. Construction is scheduled to wrap up in July, with an expected opening in October.

And they said modelling was easy!

Is there anything cuter than a young child with their infant sibling? Prince George and Princess Charlotte were recently photographed by their mom, Katherine, and she has shared some pics with the world. Click here to go to the fabulous blog, Habitually Chic to see more.

Have you heard of the ‘She Shed’? Men have always had their man cave and now women have claimed the she shed. Love it! A man cave is usually in the garage and gives us an excuse to renovate. A friend of mine decided to do just that, completely redoing to his garage completely with Epoxy Garage Flooring to bring the whole renovation together! The thought of it just makes getting my own little slice of heaven even more exciting. We’ve all seen them actually – those little potting sheds in the back that have been converted to a refuge but now they have a name and women are getting super creative with their uses.

How cute is this? Such a beautiful place to spend some time recharging your batteries.

Put on the jukebox, invite the girls over and you’ve got a party!

Ok, NOW we’re talking! How would you decorate your own she shed? Click on any of the pics for a link to see more. I know one of my friends has recently added Japanese lanterns to her greenhouse. I have a feeling it won’t be long till you’re having some girls’ nights out there, Mindy!

I love to take my camera everywhere with me but carrying two bags can be such a pain. I just discovered this great site that makes camera bag inserts for your purse.

So convenient with a laptop and phone holder, too. Love this! I’m going to order one this week so I’ll let you know how it works out.

With the cost of living rising so steadily, it’s always nice to get a bargain right? It’s even better to get free stuff. Here’s a great slideshow that gives you 69 links for free things such as baby products, health and beauty aids, pet products, eye care, workouts, family recreation, music and much more. Worth a look for sure!

This is a photo of Annette Kellerman promoting a woman’s right to wear a fitted, one-piece bathing suit in 1907. She was later arrested for indecency. I want to say this is shocking. I want to say we’ve come a long way. But I’m not sure what to say because we still have a way to go. I’m a little lost for words.

And then we have this one from 6 years earlier….

Annie Edison Taylor, who was the first person to survive going over Niagara Falls in a barrel in 1901. Ha! Do you think she wore that outfit? Go girl!

And if you lived in Alaska, this is what you might see on a typical summer day. Adorable.

I generally stay away from politically sensitive subjects but I want to make an exception today because I’m moved by the world’s response to Bruce Jenner’s transformation. People have encouraged and embraced a man who has taken a very drastic step in life. A step that many people can’t understand, discriminate against or simply make fun of. I love that the world seems to be growing kinder. Do you think this is because of social media? Is it a new generation of more politically correct and sensitive young adults? I don’t know but I’m truly encouraged by what’s happening.

Here’s a little something that I came across that sends the same message. Have a great day, everyone!

GOOD MORNING ROBYN, from fabulous and foggy Carmel!

What a delight to see you here. And that moose family….holy cow, that was SO CUTE! And your breakfast shares are what I need RIGHT NOW. We arrived yesterday afternoon and we were non-stop. I ate like a moose, and feel I need another big breakfast! Off to walk by the shore this morning, but I wanted to come by and say hello!

    Love that moose family!

So glad you enjoyed it, Stephanie. I agree – it’s everything we do, isn’t it? We get forgetful about that sometimes.

Hiya Robyn, great Tuesday tidbits. It all started with some delicious recipes, meeting new bloggers, watching little moose run through the showers and random acts of kindness. I can’t seem to watch the video its probably the big firewall, they have been blocking more and more lately. Thanks for bringing a smile to my face today. I really needed it. Sharing and sending smoke signals!

I’m loving the idea of those pickled jalepenos on the scrambled eggs…not sure if my tummy would put up with that first one in the morning. 😉 Maybe an afternoon snack.
