Corn has gotten a bad rap in the last while and Eatingwell.com has an informative article on the great debate – is corn healthy for you?

Some important facts:

  • While most field corn (feed for cows, etc) is genetically modified, sweet corn (the corn we eat) is not.
  • An ear of corn has the same number of calories as an apple, and less than 1/4 of the sugar.
  • Anti-oxidant activity which occurs when corn is cooked helps protect the body from cancer and heart disease.
  • Sweet corn is loaded with lutein and zeaxanthin, two phytochemicals that promote healthy vision. A midsize ear also offers a helpful 3-gram dose of dietary fiber.

How about this Frankenstein tree?

An American art professor has created 16 ‘Frankenstein’ trees, which produce 40 different types of stone fruit.

Each of Sam Van Aken’s trees take five years to create and produce varieties such as peaches, plums, nectarines, cherries and almonds.  Click here or on the pic to read more.  Love it!!

So lately we looked at ‘She Sheds’, that wonderful equivalent to man caves that women are building in their back yard.  And the other day, I saw pub sheds on my friend, Lorian’s FB page.  These would be so much fun, don’t you think?

I’ve always been fascinated with doorways and entryways to a house.  Don’t you think it tells you a lot about the people living there?

Here’s some gorgeous entryways that caught my attention on Pinterest…

I’ve travelled back and forth between British Columbia and Ontario quite a few times and every time I look down on the Rocky Mountains and see the pristine blue lakes I have such a desire to see them up close and photograph them.  Then I came across this photo and it left me speechless.

Happy Tuesday Evening Robyn! I crave some real tender tri-corn! All we have here in, you know where, is equivalent to cow feed, not that I have ever eaten cow feed, but I am sure it close…I miss that delicate crunch and sweetness! It is a toss up between vacationing at one of those beautiful in Europe or a She Shed. Could we have both?!! Thanks for another great Tuesday Tidbits! Welcome back!

I AM LAUGHING SO HARD! Oh my Robyn dear, you are the best. And I can hear your laughter right now. Do you know how magical that day was when we spoke? I was sitting on my porch with the sun shining so beautifully, and I just remembering thinking, “She is magic.”

THOSE VILLAGES! I have been to Eze, France, FOUR TIMES! What fun you share with us, and that Frankenstein tree is wild! Corn? We have so many beautiful fields here of it…..loving every moment.

    Have a super day! Anita

Definitely one of my favorite Tuesday Tid Bits, Robyn 🙂 What perfect timing for the corn since we will be having some tonight. And that tree! Does it get any more amazing than that?!

The last picture gave me a good chuckle, my friend. I know how the dog feels because I feel the same way about water – how I love it.

Have a beautiful day! Love to you!
